Biopsy complete... now the wait

The easy part is over. The biopsy was done yesterday. Wow is it painful. Even with sedation, I could feel it, and 24 hours later my back hurts where they did the biopsy.

Now the hard part. Waiting 2 weeks for the results. I am just going to stay positive, and whatever the results fight like hell.

Well, progression has taken place. I have mild fibrosis in my marrow. No Leukemia or lymphoma as of yet. One more result upcoming, BUT... seeking a treatment opinion with another specialist. Marrow transplant is on the table.

Scandinavian and are not in Minnesota, Wisconsin or north of I-80 in Iowa make sure they are testing for CL Leukemia. My dad has it and two specialists in Omaha missed it. He only realized that it could be that when he talked to a friend who also had it and had the same symptoms who got him in with a dude at Mayo in Rochester. It's supposedly a more obscure leukemia that absolutely shreds some Scandinavian families but unless you live with a deep population of them nearby it is often not part of the regular testing battery and they easily can blow the diagnosis. So if you're super duper duper pale white and they haven't checked specifically for that, look into it, especially if you are super fatigued and bruise from the softest of touches.

The good news is it is fairly easy to treat if it's caught early. My dad had some treatments and was in remission pretty quickly but he did have to quit drinking and become a total health nut to deal with the treatment protocol.

My granddad died 60 years ago this month of Hodgkins Lymphoma. That also is now highly treatable and not the death sentence it used to be. A lot of this stuff now can be treated as long as they catch it early so the fact that this hasn't come back as something that is horrifically no bueno is excellent news. It's gonna be a long time before I am convinced those farm chemicals in the rural Midwest aren't killing everyone who grew up drinking well water.

I joined long ago at the urging of the Red Cross crew where I donated platelets regularly. Got called in for a detailed match test for one candidate, but did not make the final cut. Perfect matches are very hard to find, as many variables must match.

THis is likely in my future. I hope someone in my family is a match. I have not told my sisters yet as I am waiting for the full diagnosis.

They know I have a disorder, but I did not want to worry them until I knew if things have changed.
