-Oct 25, UWashington: wish we coulda won, but just not a B1G rival to us. Another non-con game.

-Nov 1, Rutgers: another non-con game.

-Nov 8, off day.

-Nov 15, Maryland: another non-con game.

In short: it's been a long while since we cared much about the results of this season. Washington kinda made the rest of the season blah. Wish/hope Josh can do something about three games in a row of non-B1G teams, mixed in with some off weeks.

was a stretch goal. A friend has a kid at K-State, never went to a bowl game- how sad.

Now we’re spoiled. I’m hoping the Northwestern game is for a good bowl… Reliaquest or Gator (rumor is Citrus won’t take us two years in a row).

Next year is going to be really bad I think.

Not sure I'd like Charlotte or Nashville, but that's just me.

Re: Tampa or Jacksonville this year... I'd like to go to a Western site. Say, SoCal (if there are any bowls besides the Rose) or Phoenix.

Also acceptable: the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl.

What am I missing here. Both Rutgers and Maryland are B1G teams.*

Simply couldn't care less.

Chicago Washington/Oregon/Rutgers/Maryland/USC/UCLA Alumni Assoc clubs must be.... half a dozen people each. (Obviously, UIUC clubs are about the same I'd say in Portland, and NYC outside of Manhattan. Slightly better in Seattle, and a lot of SoCal retirees.)

But, to each their own I guess. Some people like these games. Me and a long-term friend were just speculating about how long it's been since we got excited for an Illini football game in 2025.

There used to be a Los Angeles and a San Diego. They merged because of lack of attendance.

Our current one is so bad that we had to glom on to PSU's club before. OSU, PSU and MI have very big followings here. We're pathetic.

I barely ever meet up with them. They mostly do their meet-ups and game watches in the South Bay. Very nice down there but I'm not driving an hour to go down there.

But I am helping organize the meet up before the UCLA game in Westwood. My buddy owns a sports bar in the campus town. So I'm Ralph Wiggums! What a guy!

If any of you are planning on being there for the game, hit me and and I'll tell you the details.

but it's the familiarity that I like.

That said (and this isn't out of selfishness) when ever the Illini play at USC or UCLA, that is still cool to me.

Though UCLA is trying to move to SoFi stadium instead of the Rose Bowl. I don't blame them but it will be sad.

to generate a pod system so some semblance of geographical importance could have been maintained. Iowa is the only team with 3 protected games but frankly, the Nebraska game has felt so forced ever since they started it and I would much prefer Illinois as our protected game. They need to get something worked out to get Nebraska-OU designated a rivalry game again and make it the only SEC-Big Ten cross conference rivalry game during rivalry week, then move Iowa-Iowa State to rivalry week as well. The SEC already has a bunch of out of conference games that week, let's add one more. Nebraska just isn't rivals with Iowa.

We really don't play tOSU annually (game in 2017 followed by this year)... maybe we play Purdue annually? Maybe?

But we're stuck with NU as our "end of year" game... and most people could not care less if we play NU (or even if they're a B1G team). For hoops, it's nice to have an annual Chicago game (hopefully on a weekend) but that's about it.

Big reason we have to play NU at the end of the year is that nobody else wants to. That's JMHO. (Marginally in the same boat? Mich State. Totally brand-new rivalry game invented with Penn State to "help" with that. Pffft.)

like to see Iowa swap out Illinois for rivalry week with Nebraska and Northwestern playing that week in a punny game called the Nowledge Bowl. They actually have a competitive rivalry and it works because they both wear N on their helmets. I'm just really sick of Nebraska being a forced rival to Iowa.
