Ran into a fella from the county GOP at lunch this afternoon. He informed me of a project underway to find a suitable lead ticket candidate with Trump running as VP. The lead candidate will resign the presidency at 12:05 PM on January 20, 2029 and usher in Trump's third term. I thought it was bogus but then when I looked at the Constitution, wow, there it is, the prohibition is only on being elected, not acting as president.

"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."

With at least 5 hard core strict constructionists on the SCOTUS right now I am getting a bit of a chub. This is epic. It's so refreshing having the Republicans finally listen to their charitable organizations and upping the lawfare game through long term planning.

To which ATL says "That means that California won't do it then." True that when the bill was sold to the people of California, it was said this would be only if Texas goes through with it AND it will be reversed for 2028.

Except in the final language both those things were not put into concrete language. So there is no automatic trigger if Texas doesn't do it. And there is no automatic way it goes back for 2028.

One of the reasons Biden won in 2020 was that, at least pre presidency, he was viewed as a moderate compared to Bernie and Elizabeth Warren.
