Moving the ships/aircraft around... well, some fuel costs are a waste.

OTOH, are we ""saving"" money on training? They're getting some OJT (as one of my first bosses would say-and he was an ex-Marine). Maybe some R&D on the next round of weaponry? Maintaining/developing diplomatic relationships in a volatile area of the world?

Eh. I'd like to hear more about where this $70 billion dollar number comes from. JMHO.
