Tons of the tech companies will leave for Austin...maybe a few will jump to Boise or Phoenix
Stupidhead
There are a shit ton of big tech execs in Seattle....probably close to the same amount as in the Bay Area. They aren't taking that hit on their bonuses every year. Previous Message There's a handful of people at Microsoft and a large handful at Amazon, but it's not like there's a ton of law firms and investment banks there. They weren't particularly good at attracting those people when there was no income tax. No idea how they're going to do it now that they have a 10% income tax. And that, of course, assumes that Amazon and Microsoft actually stay there. Bezos already moved to Miami (and is from Texas). We saw that with Citadel in Illinois. There was a bunch of hand wringing when they moved to Florida and Citadel told people they could stay in Illinois if they wanted. We are 3 years out and 80% of the staff has already relocated to Florida. There has to be an even chance that Amazon moves its HQ to Florida or Texas within the next 5 years. Previous Message Although their projected revenue will fall short of what they said this Rich person tax will get them. Increasing and bringing new taxes are their only options. They can’t cut spending because they’re addicts. If half of their billionaires and $2 million+ annual income earners leave, they’re still going to get 9.9% of income over $1 mill from the remaining ones. Their estates are already built. Where they lose is if the billionaires move their companies with them. Let’s hope they leave in droves. Previous Message Howard Schultz, old CEO and founder of Starbucks (as we know it ) instantly announces he’s moving to Miami. This is incredible but also annoying the rich progressives who helped create this progressive culture are fleeing to FL.
