I had acquired several ounces of gold Eagles and Maple Leafs, way back when it was under $400, held it in a safe deposit box for years, it remained pretty flat for a long time, then sometime in the late 2000’s it started moving, finally. It got in the 6-700 range, to where I’d roughly doubled my money, but that had taken a couple decades. I unloaded almost all of it. I didn’t need to, didn’t need the money really. Seeing the recent run up I’m kicking myself thinking if I’d just left it where it was and basically forgot about it I’d have a nice little rainy day fund
