For my two granddaughters, I've popped in the deductible amount in Maryland ($2.5K) each year, and a little extra a few times, and with ten years of contributions for the older one, it's a nice piece of change. S&P 500 average return is about 14% for ten years. That's about 4X value with dividends reinvested.
