we're "running" the country in the sense that the vice president cut a deal with the united states that will undoubtedly involve a relatively quick change in venezuela's foreign policy - including immediately de-emphasizing ties with china/russia/iran/cuba and allowing american oil companies back into the country to start fixing the infrastructure - but the united states isn't going to be as actively involved in the transition as it was in iraq. and expect to see quick changes to the us sanctions regime (as overstated as it always was) and, more importantly, venezuelan oil producers being to ship their heavy crude to refineries in houston.
