Ben Humrichous wasn't even sure if his teammates noticed his spur-of-the-moment celebration late in Monday's Braggin' Rights blowout over Missouri, but he's pretty darn proud of the idea.
Humrichous splashed in a 3-pointer in front of the Illinois bench late in what ended up being a 91-48 win over Missouri on Monday night at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. On his way back down on defense, Humrichous turned to the bench, raised his left hand and pointed to the empty space on his ring finger.
"I don't celebrate much, but that was pretty good I thought," Humrichous said.
The day after Illinois capped off the largest win in Braggin' Rights history, Humrichous is getting married to former Illini women's basketball star Adalia McKenzie. That's what led the Illinois bench to go nuts after back-to-back 3-pointers by Humrichous. At least, when he shot the 3-pointers. After the game, Humrichous was confronted by injured teammate Ty Rodgers who had one simple question.
"(He) said, 'Dude, this is your last game before you go get married. What are you doing shot faking,'" Humrichous said of the moments before he let his 3-pointers fly to finish with nine points....
