Spring-assist vs automatic.

Automatic, push button, knives are illegal. “Switchblades”. Spring-assisted opening are generally legal (but check local laws). Mine has a little nub that’s a part of the blade. As you start to depress that the spring engages and shoots it open.

It’s a distinction without a functional difference.

I buy from kershaw because they’re razor sharp and hold abd take an edge well. They’re also affordable so if it breaks or I lose it, nbd.

I use mine at work and I’m 100X harder than you’ll ever be on one do this would do you fine.
