when you have tens of millions of people on both sides, its naive to think there wont be some crazy on both ends on the continuum. you really have to look at bigger pictures than one-offs to draw conclusions like that.

i talk about the left having disproportionate incidence of mental health issues (which has been objectively reported and subjectively observed), but its moreso from the perspective of unhappiness/rage than it is homicidal acts... i think their platform attracts grievance based voting and then encourages people to share and adopt the grievance based issues of the rest of their coalition. you don't have a lot of single issue voters on the left; the same people mad about climate are mad about feminism are mad about capitalism are mad about lgbtq issues are mad about immigration etc. you have to download the entire package into your brain to be a democrat.

also i think their tendency to herd up in mobs leads to contagions of poor decision making... there were lots of absolutely sad/embarrassing clips of protestors this weekend crying, being confused about what they were marching for, appearing fearful or in far too many instances, violent and rageful... my assumption is that a LOT of those people arent bad people as much as they just got caught up in a crowd and lost control. i really think crowds tap into something primal in people, particularly for the mentally weak.
