With good reason. I asked Google the following question:
In the last 10 years how many efl 2 teams in the bottom 6 ag the end of October won promotion
The answer
Over the last 10 completed seasons (2016/17 through 2025/26), exactly 1 team in EFL League Two managed to win promotion after ending the month of October in the bottom six (positions 19th through 24th).
