That said. I don't know what the problem is. I think I know. But why can we turn it on one game and the next 5 nothing.
We've scored four in six. No away goals since Sept 1st. Basically he only constant is Mellon. He never stop messing about with the team. Chilvers scores in the week in, let's face it, an who cares game. He is subbed at half time. Why? Because he hasn't scored again? How must he feel? A bit like Fondop does sometimes I expect.
I can't see any further than Mellon being the problem. His persistent play not to lose mentality isn't doing what it says. Other managers know what to expect. So who makes the decision to 'turn it on' when we do play well? Even Hudson is making mistakes. Yesterday he replaced both our front players with small wing/midfielders. The corners, it was like watching a repeat.
Mellon in his interview says it wasn't a shape problem. "I'm not accepting responsibility for that". He blames individuals.
I'm sick of hearing it. The Latics, when they go out and play are great to watch, and as LJ frequently says, we don't mind letting three in, if we go and at least try to score four!
I also agree with you about Stevens. But. Something is amiss when we play like we did in the play offs, play like we did at the end of last season to reach the play offs, then sadly lost all we had gained. Then we play like we are agin at the moment. Just what is it? This is Mellon's team now, not one he has inherited.
