You and me too Ross, we’ve been crying out for a quality striker even before Mellon arrived. Eventually you have to speculate to accumulate, maybe he hasn’t got the backing of the board to really go for it, I don’t know. However at some point we can’t just plod along doing the same old stuff. I honestly believe we have the making of a good side. He has to ditch his fear of losing because we are losing and go for it as regards tactics.
Fondop has been as good as could be expected over the the last three years but if I remember correctly he was a Shez signing. So who as a striker has Mellon brought in to even match Fondop?
There comes a point when you say to Mellon when are you going to buy a player that scores consistently.
As an example Newby. Scores goals and was a freeby to York. Yes, I know wages and all that!
He might well be looking after Frank’s money but at some point he’s going to have to prove he recognises a striker and just as important play to his strength.
We aren’t far off, just go for it while it’s early season and see where we get.
