Nearly thirty years ago I was house hunting and I viewed a property which my wife and I really liked. We put in an offer which was excepted by the current owners, who were lovely. We visited the house on a couple of occasions over the next few weeks, measuring rooms and chatting with the owners about the general workings/ bills of the property. The conversations lead to where the couple were moving on to, they said that they were moving to Scotland as it was the place man was from. He then went on to tell us that he had recently retired from the Police and was looking forward to his free time. I remember staying that we would have to go soon as I was off to watch Latics in which his wife replied "he used to play for them", I apologised for not knowing who he was and asked him what he was called and where did he play??
His name, Ron Swann, Goalkeeper, a lovely couple. And yes we bought the house.....
