A smart pass out of midfield from Tom Pett released a trialist, whose perfectly weighted ball found Nevitt. The striker controlled confidently before slotting an angled finish into the net from inside the penalty area to complete the turnaround.
Nevitt and Mike Fondop caused Everton problems throughout the second period as Oldham forced the issue.
Oldham's pre-season preparations continue on Tuesday when they host Bolton Wanderers at Boundary Park, kick-off 7pm.
