As a) a football nerd and b) recovering from hip replacement and so unable to sleep, I have watched every game so far. Oh yes. Admittedly mostly by recording and then fast forwarding the dull bits( injuries, hydration breaks and all the pre,post and half time chit chat).I must admit that it wasn't with much enthusiasm to start with,thinking it would be dull, negative, sterile and slow.
I was so wrong. Absolutely loving it. One, the weather hasn't been as hot as predicted but mostly because of the refereeing. They have clearly been told to let the game flow as much as possible and that physical contact isn't a foul. Players falling over having been nudged are ignored and basically, unless it's s blatant foul, we just play on.
As a result, players have quickly got the message. You can roll around on the floor holding your ankle, your back and whatever and no one cares. The game is going on. Get up.As a result it's been miles quicker and there isn't time to argue. Some actual fouls have been missed as a result but that's fine. The guy in the New Zesland v Egypt game last night for instance was having none of it and gave virtually nothing unless it was really obvious and so, the game was fantastic. Hopefully refs over here will be told the same thing. Roll around on the floor ? Suit yourself. It's amazing how quickly they get up.

Best game so far...Uruguay v Cape Verde last night. If you haven't seen it, watch the extended highlights. The energy, speed and attitude of the Cape Verde players was a joy to behold. Loads of other great matches too and very few stinkers. Christ, even we were good to watch.

Best team so far...France (second half only).
Surprising best team to watch...Cape Verde, Japan,Paraguay or actually, us. But several others too. Loved how Egypt played.
Worst teams...Turkey and Tunisia.Especially Turkey who can expect a rotten fruit pelting at Istanbul Airport
Worst team to watch...Scotland. Old fashioned and clueless.

So there we have it. Obviously there are some issues too. The treatment of Iran has been an utter disgrace ( so obviously, everyone is now supporting them and they've been great). FIFA should be ashamed but with their boss sucking up to the disgusting shitgibbon in charge of the USA, they won't be.
So there it is. If you aren't watching, you are missing a treat. I think it's my favourite out of the seventeen World Cups I've watched so far and principally, that's been down to the refereeing which has made the game do much quicker. And tonight, we are honoured to get another chance to see the greatest player ever. And Ronaldo falling over. Bring it on.
