We would have qualified for the Cup Winners Cup which stopped in 1999. Being relegated would have made no difference. West Ham 1980 and Sunderland 1973 both played in it having won FA Cup asLeague Two clubs.

The Fairs Cup was a weird thing. Initially just for major cities who had hosted international fairs( hence Birmingham being in it early on and the first final having a London X1). That idea was quickly dropped and the name was changed on 1971 to the UEFA cup for teams finishing second, third and fourth.
