The post the other day about the 81 team had me thinking which was my favourite team of all the sides I’ve watched during my 65 years of watching. There’s no doubt about the best team. That was the one under JR when we went up to the 1st ever Prem. My favourite team though is the one under Frizz when we went up to the old League 1 as winners. It was a great season and the best we had in my life up till then. Colin Garwood was banging them in, Groves was unplayable ( what a signing). McVitie cultured, Andy Lochead old school experience at 9. In the best traditions of OAFC Robins and Blair just worked their socks off in the middle ( we love that sort of player). We had a largely home grown defence in Woodie, Keith Hicks and Chris Ogden. Keith Bailey brought some solid order at the back and then of course we had Maureeeece😃. I loved those Blue and Tangerine Terrors and for me that’s where the nostalgic vote goes.
