The beauty about reasonably distanced away games is you get to reflect during the couple of hours drive back home.
Yes the boys weren’t quite at it. Yes that could be our play off hopes in tatters. Yes on another day ‘that goal’ would have been given, Drummond would have buried that gilt edged chance and Jalo’s cracking effort would have gone in off the post and we would have won. But that’s football for you.
This year has been my 11 year old lads and I first season watching Oldham - me wanting him to grow up supporting and following his local team and not one of the more so called bigger local teams which is what happened to me many moons ago. He’s absolutely loved it and I’ve loved it even more 😂. The excitement and enthusiasm I see in his eyes on game days is priceless, with the vocal passion he shows when it’s not quite going our way (today a prime example) even better 😂😂.
No matter where we finish come the end of the season, this campaign has been one hell of a result and some. The Club is well and truly on the right track and the future looks very promising. The Fans, well they’re just second to none. Taking him to Boundary Park is a decision I’m very glad I made.
But today’s game just wasn’t meant to be and Tuesday’s game is still very much massive and one which we’re very much looking forward to.
A return to the EFL to be more than proud 💪
