1) I’m sure MM would have liked to have the budget for 22 Haaland quality players to put in his squad, but he has a limited budget covered by the EFL rules & club income. With the budget that provides, it could be why we have the players we have, and not necessarily what MM wanted. I for one would rather have the current situation rather than bankrupting the club with no guarantee of success.
2) We don’t know the personal situations with every player regarding injuries/illness/mental issues that prevent players being picked each game. For instance Harratt in his post match interview last night has admitted not being putting the effort in for the last few months, but is knuckling down & now in the squad.
3) For most of last season I was probably Garners biggest moaner, however this season he has been a revelation to me, & I’m over the moon he has signed to the end of season.
4) Mr Drummond may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but last night he was a thorn in Walsall side all night getting kicked & blocked but getting very little protection from the ref. While I would love him to get his first goal, it is the other side of his game that helps the team overall.
What I am trying to say in all the above is, none of us are in a position to pick the team because we do not have the full picture that MM has to work with. We are doing OK, at the moment and holding our own. On the off chance we managed to get promoted, I would presume all the complainers would want a full squad with better players, meaning more expense to the club. It may be we have to consolidate this year to provide budgets for next year.
Last night’s game shows what can be achieved when the team play for each other, and was a pretty good game overall.
