One of Mikey’s problems is that he doesn’t have a football brain despite being a sound guy and a focal point for the fans. Today was a classic example; he came on to hold up the ball as a lone forward, especially after Woods went off. Result, nothing stuck, he lost every ball and his only contribution was a clearance to no-one from his own box. Compare his contribution to Drummond (hardly my favourite) but he came on and worked his socks off, tackled back, became an outlet going forward and generally tried to make up for their extra man. I love Mikey to bits but at this level, he is fast becoming a fans’ mascot and a community champion. He needs to buck up his is ideas.
