It used to be fairly common. Wouldn’t happen so much these days now that the football season covers at least 10 months of the year. And for an international standard cricketer it’s virtually a year-round occupation, with franchise tournaments all round the world.
Botham only dabbled briefly in professional football. But I recall Jim Cumbes and Ted Hemsley who would both play close to a full professional season at both football and cricket in the same 12 months.

Andy Goram played cricket for Scotland - although I shouldn’t think that was as a professional.
