Only brilliant in terms of picking up a long overdue first win and 3 points. I thought it was a very average performance against a poor Cambridge side, who offered very little. We have played a lot better this season, as well as a lot worse. Just proves that it’s goals that count, rather than overall performance. Mellon could hardly miss his chance, although had it been Drummond in the same position, he might on past evidence have somehow contrived to blast it wide or high over the bar.

Good to see Pett back and lasting a full 90 minutes. Although playing him wide right certainly isn’t ideal. Felt the advertised lineup (4-3-1-2 with Hannant just behind the strikers) would have been more effective than the actual 4-4-2.
