I do remember the run upto playing Liverpool in 62. We beat Chesterfield in a 2nd round replay at BP and Bobby scored his usual winning pen off the inside of the post. Then we drew at Bristol Rovers (Div2) and won replay 2-0 at BP. Very unlucky to lose v Liverpool.
Also we beat 3rd div Bury away in league cup in Jim Frizz 1st season(3-1). Won at 1st div Stoke 1-0 after original game was postponed at half time when 2-0 down.
In another post after Grimsby beat Man U, I did state an interesting fact that only Grimsby of all the other 91 league clubs have beaten more teams from higher divisions than Latics.
