I presume that where options not exercised before the end of the existing contract, they lapse. So, it then becomes a matter of open negotiation. I wouldn’t read too much into the fact that he (supposedly) hasn’t had any (formal) offer. Doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t have been some conversations with his agent along the lines of ‘what are you looking for?’
They may well have been ‘in discussions’ without any specific offer having yet been tabled. Same applies with other players out of contract - e,g. Lundstram.
The fact that nothing has been agreed with Norwood (yet) might suggest good news for the prospects of retaining Fondop. Norwood has made no secret of his opinion that he “can’t” play with Fondop.
One goes makes it more likely that the other will stay?
