I always vowed I wouldn't go to Wembley until a team from Oldham got there. Growing up in the 50s and 60s it always looked like the team from Watersheddings were far more likely to get there than Latics. I did actually break that vow to take my then 10-year old son to watch Mossley v Dagenham in 1980. At least the goalkeeper, John Fitton, was an ex-Latics player. I still would never have imagined that ten years later, I'd be there again with Latics. And the rugby are still waiting - but not for long perhaps.
