https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Borlaug
Looking at history with a purely consequential view, Norman Borlaug remains one of the most influential people to have lived. At first glance his work in agronomy appears to be iterative minutiae, yet the end results were staggering. Many millions of people who exist today would not had Borlaug never done his work, while millions more would not have led productive and fulfilled lives due to chronic malnutrition.
From photos and the interview he appears to be a garden (or field) variety NP type with an affinity for checkered shirts and ties.
