In this article, the authors comment that antagonism of DRD3 (a candidate state for A trait) is associated with depression.
It may be that depression is negatively correlated with some of the more serious neurologic malfunctions. Maybe to be depressed, on must have a normal CNS? Otherwise, one wouldn't have a sense of loss (depressed). Another point is that depression is the most common mental health complaint. So since more people are by definition mentally normal, those who suffer from depression must be considered part of the normal population?
