Fitzgerald wrote Daisy as a brunette and Jordan Baker was a blond whereas every version of film Great Gatsby shows Daisy as a blond. Not sure why or if it was just randomness. Some versions of Gatsby also are blond and some brunette. And it isn't clear whether Gatsby was a blond or a brunette in the novel.
But novelist usually have little randomness in their characters. So how can it be that Fitzgerald wrote Daisy as a brunette but the movies always made her a blond?
Non-blonds in the 1920s in Fitzgerald's time and geographic origins (Minnesota) were more exotic and interesting. Certainly his wife Zelda was a non-blond. So he naturally thought of the leading lady of his story as just that.
But why did the movies make Daisy blond and her somewhat dishonest friend Jordan a brunette instead of the reverse? Could be related to the effort to make it clear that Daisy was of a high social class and one having widespread P trait.
