Here, in a study of PTSD, the candidate gene for A- trait shows again some stress related effects. The study authors discuss the theory that the higher brain centers seem most activated when lower brain centers are least activated. This seems consistent with most observable human behavior.
In the case of PTSD, it seems that this is the case the emotional part of the brain overrules the thinking part. The individual variation in response to a stressor (here Han Chinese losing an only child) seems related to physiologic variation in this tendancy such that those with resilience have lesser emotional and higher thinking reactions.
