This study looks at chosen to act and habitually acting. They have some findings relating brain chemicals to this. The lower brain center vs the prefrontal brain also seems to be a part of free will vs habit. It seem that neuro activity in the lower brain relates more to choosing to act, and the opioid related neurotransmission has a relationship to choosing to act as well. So our emotions and instincts are where free will comes from.
This makes one wonder if the robotic type behavior or some individuals with P trait is a reflection of their habitual behaviors overruling their instincts and emotions? If so, it also raises the question of whether autism/schizophrenia is related to the lower instinctual centers being in deficit?
