The team-up almost happened. It’s a complicated story, but if you look up “Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, 1939”, “Operation Barbarossa”, and “Fall of Berlin”, that would contain most of the important details of the evolving entente, misunderstandings and perfidy between Hitler and Stalin.
Germany never got a nuclear bomb program going. Almost all of the important physicists in the Axis countries had fled to the West, and the exception, Werner Heisenberg in a lukewarm way ensured that that the bomb did not become a German priority (see Heisenberg-Bohr meeting, Copenhagen 1941).
