Here the candidate gene for A- trait was associated with more negative symptoms (apathy) in patients with schizophrenia in a Chinese population. GIven the habitancy, these patients would probably tend to be more carriers of A- trait (N/NP) than actual NA-/NPA-/NA=/NPA= individuals. According to NPA theory, there would be very little if any increased risk for schizophrenia in the latter individuals compared to those expressing only one trait (N or A)
Speaking of habitancy, it is worth looking at the specific Asian population under study as one can see from the 100 genomes data, some Asia populations are quite different (such as Viet Nam) from other Asia populations (such as Bejing)
