Absolutely, the A- trait is often seen in Liverpool and elsewhere in England. Plenty of people who avert their gaze and do not try to make a show of themselves, tend not to be loud or boisterous etc. Difficult to say if it is rooted in Irish or other ancestries, but given the profile of Scotland a degree of Gaelic tendency towards A- trait doesn't seem outlandish.
