Another approach. . .
Another approach might be to look on the web or at pen shows for third-tier pens of the 1930's through 50's. I've bought a few neat old flat-top's from those years, at prices from $15 to say, $80. Most all of them worked when bought, and over the years I've had them, the only work any have ever needed was occasional sac replacements.
