Starting tomorrow in Vancouver, a Mexican noir series that moves the needle a bit from what we has become the standard presentation since the south of the border variant first made a splash in American revival venues in 2013.
Mexico's noirs are tilted more consistently toward women's issues than those from other countries, and it is refreshing to see that three of the films new to north of the border audiences in this series are strong entries of this type: SENSUALIDAD and LLEVAME EN TUS BRAVOS, both featuring the iconic Cuban star Ninon Sevilla, and TROTACALLES, a streetwalker noir starring the ill-fated Miroslava Stern.
