Fri 2/13 BLACK ANGEL 7:00
(No BLUES IN THE NIGHT as at NC 23...odd, as there is plenty of time for it...)
Sat 2/14 NORA PRENTISS/THE MAN I LOVE/GILDA 12:30/4:00/7:00
(The love troika, but clearly set up as separate admissions--now is that a nice ting to do to folks on Valentine's Day??)
Sun 2/15 A MAN CALLED ADAM/YOUNG MAN WITH A HORN/THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM 12:30/3:40/7:00
(The men have it--one sax man, one trumpeter, and one drummer. Aside from the tonal differences, things aren't all that out of whack...yet. But cling tight to your rhythm section!)
Mon 2/16 PETE KELLY'S BLUES/LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME 6:00/8:45
(The cheese is still on the cracker, but here the issue is films that are bit too similar. Songbirds Peggy Lee and Doris Day keep a lid on things with their ululations...)
Tues 2/17 SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS/KING CREOLE 6:00/8:45
(Wow...just wow. As wacky as the KING/THUNDER combo was in Oakland, this juxtaposition will have to be seen to be disbelieved. Of course none of these events are double features in the strict sense, so Eddie can tap dance into the Rain City night with his smirk intact...)
Wed 2/18 THUNDER ROAD/TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT 6:00/8:45
(Double feature programming courtesy of Grok...)
Thurs 2/19 KANSAS CITY/ROUND MIDNIGHT 6:00/8:45
(OK, just two nights of derangement.)
-->Here is what was cut--the aforementioned Blues in the Night*, Nocturne, Humoresque*, The Strip†, Face the Music†, All Night Long*, Hangover Square, The Wrong Man*, and The Crimson Canary.
Four really solid films (asterisked), with three very marginal titles (crossed)...leaving one more incongruous double feature (Nocturne/Hangover Square) that we hope Eddie will slip into the lineup somewhere down the roadshow rabbit hole later in the year. Our preference--Chicago! :-)
