Not bad, not bad at all--bringing in some philosophical light heavyweights in an attempt to bring noir kicking and screainginto our current age of darkness.
Of course, the French were throwing what Eddie M. likes to call "warning flares" back in the 1930s--something involving the fact that artists and intellectuals were fleeing from precepts and escalating actions poisoning a nearby nation under the thrall of a degenerate tyrant...sound familiar?
And Margot is content to name-check the (too?)-popular names in current crime fiction rather than examine her assertions in greater detail. After all, she is a crime novelist first, and an analyst after (perhaps leaving herself vulnerable to a critique contained within the proto-fascistic assertions of Mr. Brown in THE BIG COMBO).
But she has brought to our attention some bracing thoughts and several new bibliographical items to seek out, so--brava, Margot!
