That would be Woolrich's I WOULDN'T BE IN YOUR SHOES (1948), one of the best of the Monogram "cheapies"--solid work from director William Nigh, featuring fine performances from Don Castle (the poor man's Gable, lionized by Eddie and Flicker Alley in the restored double feature blu-ray of THE GUILTY and HIGH TIDE), Elise Knox, and the ever-reliable Regis Toomey.
The restored blu-ray came out in 2022, and looks great. (Odds are strong that it will be the screening source.)
It plays at Oakland's Grand Lake Theater on Wednesday, December 17th.
Eddie will also announce the schedule for NC 23, which runs from January 16-25 (also at the Grand Lake). The theme this year is "Face the Music"--you're invited to roll that clue around for a month and take a crack at just what films will make the NC 23 lineup...
