Virtually complete specs on the release covered at the second link. The extended B&W version that had its premiere in Palm Springs back in May will be part of the package, accompanied by commentary from del Toro.
The curious thing about this release (apparently bloated out to 4 disks...) is that most of the extras seem to be self-promotional. There is apparently going to be a "documentary" about "the film’s performances, visual language, costume and production design, and score," though the creator is not identified.
All of the other extras seem to include del Toro with various companions (Bradley Cooper in one, Kim Morgan in another). Seems like a big effort to vindicate the film from its extremely lukewarm performance at the box office and the film's initial mixed reviews.
Sarah Weinman, noted for true crime anthologies, seems like an odd choice to provide the booklet essay, as she is not ordinarily a writer about film.
I don't expect anyone involved in this effort to provide any kind of significant comparison of this film with the original...but perhaps we will be surprised.
