Premiering at Cannes, Tarik Saleh's EAGLES OF THE REPUBLIC is billed as the final film in a loose but intense trilogy tracing corruption in all nooks and crannies of the Egyptian circles of power.
The Cannes write-up is sparse and slick, but the even a bare-bones rendition of plot sounds intriguing--can someone who brushes up against a political world of relentless corruption emerge unscathed from the experience?
One thinks that sometime soon the NC folks, who like to showcase international neo-noir, might tap one of their folk to delve into the trilogy once it makes it to America: the first two films, THE NILE HILTON INCIDENT (2017) and BOY FROM HEAVEN (2022), are available at Amazon Prime.
