Of course, Hal B. Wallis chose Barbara Stanwyck for the feature film adaptation of "Sorry, Wrong Number," but it is worth noting that Moorehead originated the role for the "Suspense" radio series and was called upon to make numerous encore performances by listeners. I believe that Moorehead repeated the role six times for radio audiences.
Radio was a fertile medium for future film noir screenplays. "Bury Me Dead," "The Crooked Way," and "Mister Arkadin" had radio roots. Similarly, it was not at all uncommon for the studios to promote films by permitting radio dramas to reuse movie plots for national broadcasts.
One of my favorite coming attraction trailers featured Ray Milland making a radio appearance on "Suspense" for the broadcast version of "The Big Clock." The program was airing live and Milland visibly seems to tense up when the radio program was about to begin.
