I thought the reveal would be that everything was AI-generated, akin to Fassbinder’s World on a Wire and its source novel, Daniel F. Galouye’s Simulacron-3. “Alien” doesn’t interest me as much (and is perhaps better dealt with in the comedic series Resident Alien).
