I am in agreement with you as to the over the top Agnes Moorehead performance in "Dark Passage." It is quite unlike any of her other film roles.

Even Marlowe's rate of $25.00 plus expenses is reduced to $10.00. The first person camera work induced headaches for me. I could not accept Jayne Meadows in her role either. The Christmas cards and Yuletide carols also do not fit.
Of the two movies, I would choose "Dark Passage" by a TKO decision. As for "Lady in the Lake," I would recommend that noiristas content themselves by reading the book. It is much better than the movie.
