This last weekend on Noir Alley on TCM, among other “B’ films, they showed Blonde Ice from 1948. It looked like a totally different print (and different film, for that matter) than was issued on DVD by VCI Entertainment years ago. It was probably from the same Blu-ray version put out by Classic Flix – it looked stunning for a low budget film that is 77 years old. I know about that 3-D effect you speak about. I’ve seen it on occasion over the years, and it is disconcerting. However, just wait until AI takes total effect and the 1941 The Maltese Falcon will have some actors that modern day audiences know in the place of Bogey, Lorre and Greenstreet. I hope I'm not around to see that type of sacrilege.
