(Films screening for the first time in the festival are shown in bold type.)
So five of the twenty-four films in the festival come from NC 2. But the biggest names in noir actresses--Stanwyck, Crawford, Liz Scott, Ida Lupino, Peggy Cummins--are all notably absent.
Here are the other films that played in NC 2 ("The Women On Top")...
Double Indemnity
Mildred Pierce
The Man I Love
Road House
The Postman Always Rings Twice
Possessed
The Strange Love of Martha Ivers
The Letter
Christmas Holiday
The Accused
Leave Her to Heaven
Desert Fury
I Want To Live!
Witness to Murder
Sudden Fear
Crime of Passion
The Velvet Touch
The Locket
Decoy
Deadline at Dawn
The Unfaithful
Woman on the Run
It's almost a complete additional festival (22 titles out of the 27 screened at NC 2).
Two double bills that really deserve to happen--(Detour/Decoy) and reprise of Leave Her to Heaven/Desert Fury)--didn't make the cut again.
Skipping the big names in favor of some lesser titles seems a bit questionable, but there are so many noirs with prominent leading roles for women that we might well expect the "winsome women turning wicked" to simply get a reprise in 2026.
