Megan and I share an affinity for Denis Johnson, which seems to be centered around the earlier, edgier works (Megan rhapsodizes about ANGELS; I am partial to THE STARS AT NOON--later made into a film by Claire Denis--and FISKADORO, which I considered trying to option during my "adapt novels into screenplays" phase in the 1990s).
His later works TREE OF SMOKE and JESUS' SON have also received considerable praise.
Megan is very articulate here, and I wonder if she will ever try to adapt ANGELS for the screen--she notes in the interview here that parts of it do seem a bit daunting to pull off.
