Following in the footsteps of the PFA, the Stanford Theatre is bringing a big pizza pie of classic film noir with a generous side dish of Val Lewton films over the next nine weeks, beginning tonight and running through Sunday, November 10.
With the exception of The Red House and Secret Beyond the Door, all of the 29 noirs are quite well known--this is not a rare film fest. David Woodley Packard is not a creative programmer when it comes to double bills, but there are some truly excellent double features nonetheless.
Bay Area folk are encouraged to make the trip to Palo Alto, as the Stanford Theatre is a lovely venue, a compact movie palace that is well-maintained by Packard.
