The reviewer suggests that the dual-layer upgrade (not specifically described as a "restoration") provides added detail and crispness to the image for this seminal noir (ranked a bit too low, IMO, in the original Top 25, at #70--the "reworking" that was done in 2015 moved it up into the mid-50s).
Eddie does some stemwinding in his commentary track, reminding us that the gift of gab is sometimes a double-edged sword. His time spent reminiscing about his interactions with Evelyn Keyes connects to the fact that his next book project is reportedly a return to DARK CITY DAMES (exactly what form that will take is still unknown).
